The first week of November, the Mexican hotel group Posada announced the opening of Live Aqua Urban in San Miguel’s Historic Center. With $35MM investment, this hotel was designed to echo the city’s bohemian chic vibe while bringing something modern and fresh to the table.
Arriving at the hotel, the hacienda-style building covered in brightly colored bougainvillea complies perfectly with the city’s colonial vibe. At the entrance, its detailed sculpture immediately captures your eye while the massive wooden doors invite you to explore further.
Accommodations
Live Aqua has 153 guest rooms, officially making it San Miguel de Allende’s largest hotel. Each room is joyous and contemporary with details that make you feel spoiled , such as luxurious bedding, deluxe glass-enclosed bathrooms, aromatherapy kits, and even your own LPs and record player.
Gastronomy
The urban resort proposes a number of options to indulge your taste buds. Under the direction of Mexican chef Eduardo Palazuelos, Zibu Allende offers a Mexican fusion fare in a laid-back atmosphere. Upstairs, you can find the Asian-cuisine restaurant, Spice Market, boasting an intimate, avant-garde design. Apart from the specialty restaurants, don’t miss their bakery, snack bar, and various bars.
Event Spaces
Live Aqua is perfectly adapted for events of all kinds. Ideal for weddings or conventions, it has an event room that can be divided into five separate sections, with a total capacity of nearly 1,000 people. With lovely views of San Miguel, the spectacular upstairs terrace can also be used for celebrations and functions of all types.
The Spa
Set to open in the spring, Feel Urban Spa by Live Aqua is an exclusive space to disconnect from the outside world. Its unique treatments and menu of specialty massages allow you to unwind and cede to your senses. For maximum relaxation, take advantage of the spa’s hydrotherapy system, including a sauna, private pool, and steam rooms. Don’t forget the fully equipped gym and beauty parlor.
Other Amenities
Other on-property locations include an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi where you can bask in your surroundings and watch the sun set while sipping on Casa Dragones tequila. The hotel’s boutique store, La Caty, is home to a wide range of Mexican products, from trendy clothing to authentic works of art.
