¿Cómo ha cambiado la industria de bienes raíces de lujo en Miami en los últimos años?
Han pasado muchas cosas en la última década, y creo que Miami se ha convertido en uno de los destinos más sofisticados del mundo. Cuando comenzamos —hace más de 40 años—, la ciudad se veía como un lugar para retirarse, y ahora hay una gran cantidad de jóvenes y familias que quieren comprar aquí. Estos nuevos compradores son cada vez más exigentes; quieren buenos restaurantes, entretenimiento y gran servicio. Viajan mucho y saben de lujo, así que tenemos que responder a esa demanda.

Los compradores latinos son muy interesantes. Son sofisticados, alegres y tienen una forma distinta de relacionarse en lo social; por ende, hacen de Miami una ciudad mucho más colorida. Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros compradores latinos.
¿Qué hace a The Estates at Acqualina distinto de otros proyectos que has desarrollado?
Primero que nada, tiene muchas más amenities que cualquier otro desarrollo que hemos hecho. Además, quisimos crear un área que tuviera un ambiente de “sala de estar” en la playa, algo muy popular en otros destinos pero totalmente nuevo en Florida. Rincones de convivencia social para amigos y familias junto al mar.

¿Cuáles son las amenities más innovadoras del desarrollo?
En The Estates at Acqualina primero quisimos garantizar residencias maravillosas, acceso a la playa y restaurantes de primera. Después agregamos tres elementos fuera de lo común: una pista de patinaje sobre hielo, boliche y un club nocturno privado. Creo que tener la mezcla de buena comida, convivencia y música resulta muy atractiva para el comprador mexicano.
¿Existe alguna diferencia entre la torre norte y la sur?
La torre norte tiene un mayor sentido de exclusividad y el diseño de las 91 residencias es muy distinto a las de la torre sur. Aquí nos fuimos por los espacios abiertos, integrados y cuidadosamente planeados. Las cocinas de mármol, por ejemplo, son casi una pieza de arte.

¿Cómo fue trabajar con Karl Lagerfeld en el diseño del lobby de la torre sur?
Fue un gran privilegio para nosotros. Al principio yo no entendía qué tan diferente podía ser un lobby, pero una vez que comenzamos a trabajar me di cuenta de que Karl era un genio creativo. El resultado final será increíble, y queremos que la gente lo vea como una obra de arte por la que tiene que pasar todos los días.
Cada residencia de The Estates at Acqualina se entrega con todos los acabados completos y lista para ser amueblada, ¿cierto?
Desde nuestra experiencia, los compradores suelen batallar con diseñadores y contratistas cuando hay que afinar los últimos detalles de una propiedad, así que decidimos hacerlo más fácil para ellos y entregar residencias listas para la mudanza.
En cuanto a la tecnología, ¿qué aspectos destacarías de The Estates at Acqualina?
Cada residencia está equipada con un sistema inteligente que controla el aire acondicionado, las persianas y la iluminación. También tienen un gran sistema de sonido. Además, contamos con un centro de negocios especial —totalmente equipado— para los inversionistas de Wall Street.
